Cheap Flights Jamaica
The vibrant colours, the relaxed way of life, and of course
the world-renowned hospitality, who would not want to holiday
in Jamaica? For many years, Jamaica has welcomed holidaymakers
from all over the world, and what better way to get there than
on a cheap Jamaica flight? The small island has played host to
many settlers over its life, the Amerindians who discovered it,
to Europeans who fought to own it, to the Africans forced to call
it home and to Middle Easterners, Indians and Asians who have
come there looking for pastures greener. Each group carrying with
it a different story and tradition, forging the melting pot of
Jamaica. Over time, blended together, they create the islands
rich history and heritage.
The first inhabitants of Jamaica were the Tainos, believed to
be from South America. The peaceful Tainos greeted Columbus when
he arrived in Jamaica in 1494. Columbus’ arrival marked
the beginning of five hundred years of European occupation and
governance, and if he’d seen the deals we can give you he
to would have opted for a cheap flight to Jamaica. Initially,
the Spanish settled at Sevilla Nueva, but moved to Villa de la
Vega, now known as Spanish Town. The city grew fast, soon becoming
the centre of the island’s activity.
Through battles occurring through the 1650s, the British, under
who became a busy and wealthy colony, captured Jamaica from the
Spanish. By the 18th century, Jamaica had become the jewel of
the British Crown producing over a fifth of the world’s
sugar. This success however, came at quite the cost to the African
people, of whom thousands were forced in to slavery and transported
to the New World.
Despite the torrid history you will still find those Jamaicans
rutted to the island exclaiming proudly that the heart of the
Jamaican people has never ceased to dance. Dancing is an integral
part of everyday Jamaican life. Jamaicans can be found to dance
everywhere and for all occasions. When the music plays, hips move,
hands begin to clap while the round buttocks gyrate, and everyone
– regardless of age – finds themselves moving to the
infectious rhythmic beat, a beat that a cheap flight to Jamaica
could bring you to.
It has been said that the islanders have ‘Jamaicanized’
even traditional European dances, performing them to the sounds
of homegrown music. Likewise, dances reflect African heritage,
but are also satirical commentaries of plantation life. These
dances form the backbone of modern Jamaican dance forms.
Today, Jamaicans use everything from comedy to tragedy to create
new dance moves. Visitors who have flown to Jamaica on a cheap
flight are barely able to keep track of the many new dances that
surface at a rapid pace. Surrounding bars and clubs, reverberating
with pounding beats of music, are breeding grounds for new dance
moves. You can bet that almost every month there will be a new
style, no less exciting, entertaining or exhilarating than the
previous.
One thing not to be overlooked is the food of Jamaica, there’s
a lot that goes into its cuisine, what with people arriving from
all corners of the globe, bearing there own ingredients. However,
on a small island, nothing stays the same for too long, and necessity
dictates that everything has to be modified – creatively,
flavourfully, and with a little bit of life in every bite.
Although many quality gourmet and fusion restaurants around the
world use the famous Jerk sauce and serve highly acclaimed Blue
Mountain Coffee, most things taste better when they are made in
Jamaica. So the only way to get yourself tucking into some of
that authentic Jamaican chow is to hop onto a cheap flight to
Jamaica and get stuck in!
